More information
What happens if my result is abnormal?
An abnormal result does not always mean something serious.
If your result needs:
Urgent action – we’ll try to contact you by telephone.
Non-urgent follow-up – we may contact you by text, letter or ask you to book an appointment.
Monitoring – you may be asked to repeat the test at a later date.
If you’ve been told your result is abnormal and would like to discuss it, submit a Test Results Request.
My test was done at a hospital or another service
If your test was requested by another healthcare provider, such as a hospital, community clinic or Emergency Department, please contact the service that requested the test for your results.
The practice may not be able to access or action results for tests that were not requested by our clinicians.
Can Reception explain my results?
Our Care Navigators can give you information that has been recorded for you by a clinician.
They are not clinically trained and cannot interpret test results or provide medical advice.
If your result needs further explanation, you may be asked to submit a request or speak to a clinician.
I’m worried while waiting for my results
Do not wait for your test results if your symptoms are getting worse or you become acutely unwell.
Contact the practice for advice while we’re open.
When we’re closed, use NHS 111.
For a life-threatening emergency, call 999.
