They can assess patients, take medical histories, carry out examinations and help develop treatment and management plans within their scope of practice.
What can a Physician Associate do?
Depending on your healthcare needs, a Physician Associate may:
- Assess your symptoms and medical history
- Carry out physical examinations
- Discuss treatment and management options
- Request or review some investigations within their scope of practice
- Provide health advice and follow-up care
- Discuss your care with a supervising GP when needed
Physician Associates work within defined professional boundaries and have access to GP support and supervision.
