They can assess patients, take medical histories, carry out examinations and help develop treatment and management plans within their scope of practice.

What can a Physician Associate do?

Depending on your healthcare needs, a Physician Associate may:

  • Assess your symptoms and medical history
  • Carry out physical examinations
  • Discuss treatment and management options
  • Request or review some investigations within their scope of practice
  • Provide health advice and follow-up care
  • Discuss your care with a supervising GP when needed
