🫁 Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month – September 2025

Every September, we mark Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month — a time to raise understanding of this life-limiting lung disease, highlight symptoms, and call for more research and support.

Why It Matters

  • Pulmonary fibrosis causes scarring of the lungs, making it harder to breathe.
  • Around 32,500 people in the UK are living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
  • Early diagnosis and treatment can slow the disease’s progression.

Spot the Signs

  • Shortness of breath (especially during activity)
  • A persistent, dry cough
  • Fatigue and unexplained weight loss
  • “Clubbing” of fingertips or toes
