🕯️ International Overdose Awareness Day – 31st August 2025

Every year on 31st August, we pause to remember the lives lost to overdose, raise awareness of overdose-related harm, and promote life-saving action. This global event aims to reduce the stigma associated with drug-related death and offer support to those affected by grief.

Why It Matters

  • In the UK, thousands of people die from drug-related causes each year.
  • Many of these deaths are preventable with better education, support, and access to treatment.
  • Families, friends, and communities are often left to cope with complex grief — and they deserve understanding, not judgment.

Spot the Signs of Overdose:

  • Shallow or no breathing
  • Unresponsiveness or unconsciousness
  • Blue lips or fingertips
  • Gurgling/snoring sounds
  • Pinpoint pupils (very small)

If you suspect someone is experiencing an overdose, call 999 immediately. Don’t wait — your actions could save a life.
