About the Lung Health Check Programme

We are supporting the Lung Cancer Screening Programme, an NHS initiative offering free Lung Health Checks to eligible patients.

This service is run by an external screening team and aims to detect early signs of lung cancer in people at higher risk.

Who is eligible?

You may be invited if you are:

  • aged 55 to 74
  • a current or former smoker (with at least one year of smoking history)

Invitations are sent directly by the screening team.

How does it work?

Eligible patients will:

  1. Receive an invitation letter for a telephone consultation with a clinician.
  2. During the call, you will discuss your lung health and risk factors.
  3. Some patients may then be offered a Low Dose CT Scan of the lungs.
  4. Scans are carried out at a mobile scanning unit located in a convenient community location.
